Dr. Brent Ruby and his Univ of Montana research featured in Runner's World

The July 2014 edition of Runner’s World magazine includes a massive 8-1/3 page story about client Dr. Brent Ruby and his Center for Work Physiology and Exercise Metabolism (WPEM) at the University of Montana.Chris Solomon did a masterful job of writing the story and playing guinea pig in a research project testing if one’s performance changed if recovery fuel was McDonald’s fast food versus specifically-formulated recovery products. The wide-ranging feature story touched on all things Brent Ruby including work specific topics such as heat stress research, finding the ceiling of human endurance, and exercising at altitude. The story also touched on the more personal side with talk of Ruby’s family, fashion and fascinations. Some of the take-aways from the story are summed up in a call-out box– keep your skin cool to perform at peak levels, living at altitude only helps if you are racing at altitude, mix up your workouts, and if you fear overtraining, instead of reducing intensity of workouts, increase mental and physical rest.wpem_runners world_july 14The magazine is on newsstands and in mail boxes now (but not yet available on-line).
