A recent LA Times Travel article about cycling offered the following advice to bike-enthusiasts:
"Tired of spinning at the gym? Change it up with a bicycling trip to one of the Canary Islands off the northwest coast of Africa."
Ciclismo Classico offers a seven-day Gran Canaria cycling trip that weaves through forests, along a volcano en route to San Bartolome, up to the island's high point at Pico de las Nieves, down to the coastal village of Playa de Mogan and on to the lush Parque Natural de Tamadaba.
