The October 3rd, 2012 installment of "Great Homes and Destinations" in The New York Times included a beautiful home from the South Carolina golf community of Spring Island. The feature was specifically called "What you get for ...$975,000" and included this South Carolina golf course home for sale at Spring Island.About this South Carolina gated community the article said:"Spring Island is a residential community in the Lowcountry off the Atlantic Coast. Of its 3,000 acres, 1,200 are protected as a nature preserve with live-oak forests, freshwater ponds, marshland and pasture. The rest of the island is dotted with about 400 single-family houses and amenities that include riding rings, tennis courts, a fitness center, and an 18-hole golf course designed by Arnold Palmer. There are no commercial buildings on Spring Island. For shopping, residents head to nearby Bluffton or Beaufort, both about a half-hour’s drive away. Savannah is under an hour away; Charleston is about two hours.Specific to the home the story read:"The property consists of four single-level buildings constructed around a landscaped, courtyard-like interior, three of which are connected by covered walkways. It’s one of several Spring Island residences designed by Historical Concepts, an award-winning Atlanta firm. Floors throughout each structure are heart pine; three have screened-in porches with slanted ceilings. The compound’s central section has a bedroom, a living room with a brick wood-burning fireplace, a dining room, and a kitchen with rustic wood cabinetry, a breakfast bar and a deep farm-style sink. Each of the other suites contains a bedroom and bathroom. An office in one of the suites has marsh views along two walls.
