Pine Creek featured in STRATOS Magazine as 'outdoor-centric' club

Pine Creek Sporting Club is featured in the August/September 2010 issue of STRATOS Magazine as an active-lifestyle second home or vacation community.Erich Boehm, an investor and entrepreneur from Chicago, Illinois, owns a 3,472-square-foot, air-conditioned cabin at Pine Creek. Previously, Boehm had owned five farms throughout his life in order to pursue his outdoor and hunting interests, but he would usually get caught up in maintaining the properties, reports Judy Kenninger:

Now, he’s found the perfect solution: Pine Creek Sporting Club, an exclusive, members-only, champions clays and wing shooting club in Okeechobee, Florida. “As soon as I saw it, I wanted to own a home here right away,” he says. “It has everything.”

Boehm is one of a growing number of baby boomers who want to do more at their second home than swing on the porch. “We’re very active on our vacations,” Boehm says. At Pine Creek, his family’s leisure choices range from pheasant hunts with the club’s 30 dogs, two dove fields, a sports field for softball games, riding at the club stables, miles of nature trails, swimming out to a floating dock in the center of the lake, and range facilities with five stand, sporting clays, and a 70-foot tower shoot. The best part? Someone else does all the work, so all they have to do is vacation. “We’re just ticked pink,” he says.

Pine Creek was founded by Stephen E. Myers, Jack W. Nicklaus, Nick Price, Tucker Frederickson, Tullio Fabri and Stephen Myers, Jr., also the developer. Pine Creek, which also features abundant Florida quail hunting, has become one of Florida's top hunt clubs.Pine Creek ranches start at $850,000; 22 ranch sites are available, ranging from 40 acres to 52 acres. Cabins start at $595,000. Each of the 23 cabins features Florida waterfront property on a lake.STRA_
